The challenge
What we were up against.
Roman House, a 1950s student residence requiring full modernisation — including complete electrical rewire, plumbing overhaul, new flooring throughout, fire door upgrades, and fresh decorators — all within a fully occupied building with 400+ students on site.
Our solution
How Truman delivered.
Our multi-trade team delivered a phased, floor-by-floor programme over four months. Works were carried out in sections to keep communal areas, kitchens, and bathrooms partially operational. Full strip-out was followed by new M&E, LVT flooring, fire-rated doors, and a full redecoration with student liaison throughout.
- Full modernisation of a 1950s building to modern standards, with zero student relocations required.
- All 400+ students remained on-site throughout the 16-week programme.
- All works completed 2 weeks ahead of the agreed programme with zero complaints.
